Kia India on Saturday launched the facelift versions of the company’s two best selling models, namely the 2021 Seltos and 2021 Sonet SUVs. Both cars offer multiple new features, with certain features that were earlier restricted to top models trickling down to lower variants.
Bookings for both cars are now open, with the price of the 2021 Kia Seltos set at Rs 9,95,000 (ex-showroom, pan-India) and the 2021 Sonet is priced at Rs 6,79,000 (ex-showroom, pan-India)
Kia has launched both cars with paddle shifters this time, with the Seltos receiving the iMT technology that was earlier restricted to the newer Sonet. The Seltos iMT will be available in the 1.5 Petrol HTK+ variant. This marks something that is a segment-first since Hyundai has not introduced the iMT technology yet for the Creta despite it being available on the cheaper Venue.
The company has also introduced a premium variant of the Seltos, the 1.4T-GDI Petrol GTX (O). As for the refreshed Sonet, the best selling and most popular HTX trim will now be available with Automatic options – HTX 7DCT (1.0T-GDI Petrol) and HTX 6AT (1.5 Diesel).
Kookhyun Shim, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Kia India said, “The refreshed editions of Seltos and Sonet mark the first steps towards our transformation in India and reiterate our new brand purpose of inspiring consumers through products, services and their experiences with the brand.
“The evolving needs of the customers are at the heart of our product strategy. Since launch, the Seltos and Sonet have been creating benchmarks in their respective segments, and with the additional variants, safety and convenience features, we are taking the game a notch higher.”
“I am confident that Indian customers will keep showering their love for our products, and with these refreshed versions, we are ready to win India’s heart once again.”
The 2021 Seltos will also have 17 new features like the segment-first Smart Pure Air Purifier that comes with Virus and Bacteria protection, which according to Kia can effectively clean the air and kill viruses.
There is also Remote Engine smart in the Manual options, Wireless Phone projection, OTA based map updates and additional voice commands for the UVO connected car system, with the option to control the sunroof and windows.
As for the safety side of things, Kia has also added the Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Brake Assist (BA), Hill Assist Control (HAC) features to lower variants of the Seltos. There are also multiple new seat materials and colour options.
The 2021 Sonet too gets 10 new features like the Rear Door Sunshade Curtains and Voice command for controlling the sunroof. It also gets features like Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Brake Assist (BA), Hill Assist Control (HAC) for the lower variants.
