The third free practice round of the Portuguese Grand Prix came to a close with some shockers for the backmarkers and the fan favourite on the pole. The mid-field seemed to remain similar to the last few sessions, with the only exception coming from Lando Norris who seemed to be struggling.

The first position was held by Max Verstappen in his Red Bull RB16B with a time of 1:18.489 with Lewis Hamilton finishing second, 0.236 seconds behind. The podium positions came to a close with Valtteri Bottas three tenths down from Max.

Sergio Perez stayed ahead of the pack at P4, ahead of Esteban Ocon and Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz in P6, P7 in both Ferraris. Lando Norris was P8 with Pierre Gasly and Kimi Raikkonen behind in P9 and P10 respectively.

Japanese hotshot Yuki Tsunoda was P11 ahead of Daniel Ricciardo in P12 and Antonio Giovinazzi in P13, Despite the pace in FP2, Fernando Alonso was down in P14, ahead of Mick Schumacher who shocked us all with a P15 finish at the end, pushing his Haas to the absolute limit.

Lance Stroll, George Russell, Sebastian Vettel, Nicholas Latifi and Nikita Mazepin held the last five positions, with Lance failing to utilise the supposed upgrades on his car that Vettel mentioned earlier.

With this result, a qualifying pace chart showcased how Hamilton and Verstappen had the exact same pace, showcasing how tight the battle really is. We can expect a rather eventful Qualifying session at 7:30 PM IST.
